Building Unity in the Kenosha-Racine area this Saturday!

The Building Unity Tour started out as a real statewide tour focused on voter engagement, voter registration, and get-out-the-vote work. Due to the pandemic, it has now shifted into a virtual tour, with our “vote mobile” now serving as a mobile billboard that promotes our project, highlights the importance of voting this year, and invites people to join our virtual tour stop gatherings. With these gatherings, we are finding each other, getting to know each other and learning about the important work that is going on in every area of Wisconsin.

The Vote Mobile is now in the Racine and Kenosha area until May 20th. Our tour stop gathering via Zoom will be on: May 16, 2020 at 6:00 PM. In this Zoom gathering, we will connect with local and statewide leaders that are ready for collaboration and unity building.

If he is not needed to provide emergency support one of the many workers who are being hit hard by COVID-19, Fabi Maldonado, State Political Director of Voces de La Frontera, will share information about how Voces is responding to our current crisis and how we can support our immigrant neighbors.

We will also be joined by Mike McCabe, 2018 candidate for governor and current director of Our Wisconsin Revolution. Mike will give his perspective on the need for unity and the importance of all of us making sure that all of Wisconsin votes safely in the elections this year.

We have 4 simple requests:

  • Help us think of the best places that would serve as powerful backdrops for photos of the Vote Mobile and join our social media campaign.  We’d love to feature you or someone you know in one of our promotional photos and videos. Call Tim at 608-630-3633 if you have any ideas or would like to meet for a safely orchestrated photo or video interview opportunity.
  • Could you or anyone you know, promote the Building Unity project by placing a sign on your property? Signage on busy streets or highways is very effective. Here is the link to our sign ordering form.  Questions about our sign project can be directed to BuildingUnitySigns@gmail.com
  • Please explore our website, follow us on Facebook, and post and share our Building Unity Virtual Tour Stop information with your network. Please contact buildingunitywi@gmail.com with your ideas for additions and/or improvements to our shared web-based platforms.
  • Help us to plan and facilitate gatherings in your part of the state and beyond.  Of course, at this time, all gatherings will be virtual and conducted via Zoom meetings. Hopefully, it won’t be long before we can start being together in person again; however, we know that we must be patient and strong. Please, stay safe, stay connected, stay strong, and keep hope alive.

Below are pictures of the Building Unity “Vote Mobile” at our First Lutheran Church in Janesville and at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Kenosha. Is there a message that you would like to see posted on the side of the Vote Mobile?

It is time to UNITE and take our world back!  We can make sure that in this election year, Wisconsin votes for Peace, Justice, Sustainability, and Democracy!
